This print captures the elegant curves of the young banana leaf as it sways in the wind, bringing to mind the lush valley of Maunawili on the windward side of O’ahu. Bananas, or Mai'a, are a common sight in the valleys and sheltered areas of the Hawaiian islands, often grown near the well-watered banks of taro fields.

This pareo (towel) reminds us of the beauty and practicality of Mai'a, and also reflects the Hawaiian proverb 'A'ohe hua o ka mai'a i ka lā ho'okahi: "Bananas do not fruit in a single day." It's a gentle reminder that great things take time — and that the delicious Mai’a fruit is always worth the wait!

Beautiful color and design

This pareo is beautifully designed and I love the blue shade. The shipping is super fast to Alaska, where I can use it as a scarf. I love having this bit of aloha to remind me of paradise!
